Hatters march on after latest win

- NON-LEAGUE ROUND-UP By CHRIS OSTICK

STOCKPORT County made it four wins out of four this season against local rivals Altrincham to continue their promotion push in National League North.

Having already beaten the Robins in both the FA Cup and FA Trophy – and having secured a league win over them on Boxing Day – the Hatters completed a whitewash with a 1-0 win at Moss Lane.

In front of a crowd of 3,383, Matty Warburton netted in the 27th minute to make it three wins out of three over the festive period for Stockport, who sit third in the table and host second-place Bradford Park Avenue on Saturday at Edgeley Park.

Curzon Ashton gained revenge for the Boxing Day derby defeat by rivals Ashton United with a 2-1 win over the Robins at Hurst Cross.

Paul Ennis gave Ashton the lead in the 38th minute from the penalty spot, but Curzon pulled it level in the 61st minute after Oli Crankshaw tapped home Joe Guest’s header.

And Guest was the creator for the winner five minutes later as his cross was met by Ryan Brooke to head home. Ashton twice went close in the dying minutes through Liam Martin, the first being cleared off the line by Jono Hunt, the second saved by keeper Cam Mason.

Ashton remain in the bottom three along with FC United, who suffered a 4-0 defeat at leaders Chorley with all four goals coming in the second half, with two apiece from Josh O’Keefe and Elliot Newby.
