World Cup star claims City held meeting with his agent

- By JOE BRAY

CITY have reportedly held talks with Columbia midfielder Juan Fernando Quintero, according to the player himself.

Quintero is currently on loan at River Plate in Argentina from FC Porto, and says City are among the teams interested in his services.

The 25-year-old scored once and assisted twice in the World Cup last summer, playing against England in the round of 16 defeat on penalties.

He told Radio Continental: “My agent has had a meeting with Manchester City, which makes me very proud.”

However, he insisted he will not leave River Plate unless the offer is right.

He continued: “But if I’m to return to Europe it has to be for the benefit of all, but just a financial thing.”

“I’m a River Plate fan and I want to stay here, and the president knows that.”

Meanwhile, Oleksandr Zinchenko’s agent Alan Prudnikov has reportedly said the Ukrainian is unlikely to leave City this month.

Prudnikov told Radio Marte, as quoted by TuttoMercatoWeb: “It’s still not enough for him to be happy, but the situation is better than two months ago.

“We’re always open to possible solutions. In this transfer window, City do not want to sell him because they need him, but we remain at the window to listen to other offers, especially for the summer.”

City have also been linked with Sunderland striker Josh Maja in this transfer window, and the youngster has reportedly told the Black Cats he will not sign their final contract offer to him.
