Noel gives his rivals a black look

-

SOME might say there’s something familiar about this mono-browed fish.

So much so the pinstripe damba has been named after its rock star doppelganger, Oasis star Noel Gallagher.

Noel is one of many dambas at Chester Zoo all named after famous faces with joined-up brows thanks to its rather distinctive black markings above its eyes.

The Oasis guitarist may sport a more groomed look these days, but no one can forget his full-fuzz look from the 90s.

But the odd-looking star of Secret Life of the Zoo has more in common with his ‘mad fer it’ younger brother Liam.

Noel, the alpha male in the tank, spends his time starting fights with his tank companions.

“It’s a face only your mother could love, really,” said zoo worker Hannah.

“All of the Damba have been named after people with mono-brows.”

To encourage him to breed, he is placed in a separate tank with his favourite female, Frida Kahlo (named after the Mexican artist).

But Noel wasn’t interested until the keepers placed a mirror in his tank that convinced him a rival male was on the prowl.

The series that goes behind the scenes at Chester Zoo returned for a new run last night on Channel 4.

Later this year it will follow the zoo’s recovery from the devastating blaze that hit the Monsoon forest enclosure in December last year.
