THE staff and children of St Kentigern’s R.C Primary School, in Fallowfield, Manchester, will celebrate 50 years of successful education this January.

Staff take immense pride in their caring, effective approach to teaching and the polite, respectful behaviour exhibited by their blossoming pupils.

In September 2017, the school was hailed as “outstanding” by Ofsted inspectors. Ofsted praised the children’s achievements, stating that “[St. Kentigern’s] pupils achieve well above national levels and have an excellent foundation for future success”, with a previous inspection comment also praising how “respect and tolerance for all is a golden thread that runs throughout the school”.

CONTINUED GROWTH

For the last three years, pupils have achieved above local and national levels in all subjects.

In summer 2018, 92 per cent of pupils achieved the expected standard or above in reading, writing and mathematics, placing St Kentigern’s in the top five primary schools in Manchester.

STRONG VALUES

As a Roman Catholic school, St Kentigern’s places great emphasis on Catholic values of truth, justice, fairness and equality, and cooperation between parents, pupils and staff is pivotal in creating a safe, supportive environment.

The school’s ethos is focused on developing children’s confidence and self-esteem, as well as the delivery of a broad and engaging curriculum which is supplemented by a wide range of fun extra-curricular activities and visitors.

The school has also been awarded Activemark Gold and Artsmark Gold, reflecting the quality of its broad and exciting curriculum.

SCHOOL PRIDE

St Kentigern’s is proud of where they are and what they have achieved over the last 50 years.

Headteacher, Mrs B Harrold, is encouraging any past pupils or members of staff to contact the school with any photographs they may have celebrating the school over the last 50 years.

The school will be holding an open day and garden party in the summer term, when all photographs and written memories will be displayed.

ONWARDS AND UPWARDS

Looking to the future, St Kentigern’s opened a nursery for two year olds in September 2017. Providing outstanding full time wrap-around care for their youngest pupils, the nursery has proved to be a resounding success with local families. Applications for places can be made via the school office. For more information, visit the website at www.st-kentigerns. manchester.sch.uk
