Reds finally witnessing the top Pog

- By JOSH WILLIAMS

THROUGHOUT the course of the first half of the season, Paul Pogba struggled under the leadership of Jose Mourinho, with the two characters seemingly clashing both on and off the pitch.

Often, the public blame that Mourinho tried to focus in the direction of Pogba was met with bewilderment relative to the Frenchman’s inspired performances at the World Cup.

Pogba’s displays for his country in the summer under the guidance of Didier Deschamps served as a beacon of hope for United fans, but once the Premier League season started though and up until December 18, that quality and level of talent was unrecognisable.

Since, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has taken the reigns at United, and Pogba has been revitalised into a key figure at Old Trafford.

One of the key reasons for Pogba’s rejuvenation is due to the inclusion of Marcus Rashford. The academy striker has benefited Pogba’s game in a similar manner to Kylian Mbappe did at the World Cup, and it’s resulted in both players reaping the rewards.

Arguably two of Pogba’s most notable qualities are his passing range and his ability to carry the ball over large distances in a manner that’s almost majestic.

Rashford and Mbappe both have traits that compliment those qualities, largely in that they are both exceedingly quick, and they both have an eagerness to run in behind opposing defences.

Pogba’s strengths are now being played to largely because of the incorporation of Rashford and his Mbappe-like tendencies.

As a result, Pogba has rediscovered the World Cup form that received so much praise in the summer, and Rashford is scoring at a rate that rivals the league’s best.
