PSG star set to be out for United clash

- By CHARLOTTE DUNCKER

PARIS Saint-Germain could be without star midfielder Marco Verratti for next Tuesday’s Champions League clash against United.

Neymar has already been ruled out of both legs of the last 16 clash after injuring his foot and Verratti may now be a doubt for Tuesday’s game at Old Trafford.

The Italy international had returned to training earlier this week having recovered from an ankle sprain which had kept him sidelined for a couple of weeks.

However, PSG coach Thomas Tuchel revealed the midfielder was unable to make his comeback against Villefranche-Beaujolais in the Coupe de France on Wednesday night because of a new injury he has picked up.

“Marco was unable to finish training on Tuesday,” Tuchel said. “He had problems and I have to wait until Thursday to be able to take a decision over playing him against Bordeaux.

“Marco’s new issue is something else (not the same ankle), but I do not really know much more.”

The Ligue 1 leaders are back in action on Saturday against Bordeaux before the first leg of the Champions League last -16 tie against Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side on Tuesday.

Tuchel was asked about Verratti’s original injury and Neymar’s absence last month and admitted they have strength in depth to deal with their absences.

“They are key players, players with great quality. They are missed greatly but at the same time, it is our challenge to find a solution,” Tuchel said.
