Gemma ‘lucky’ to gain weight

-

FORMER Emmerdale actress Gemma Atkinson says she isn’t worried about gaining weight after announcing she’s expecting her first child.

The Hits Radio presenter says she’s been constantly asked since revealing her pregnancy if she’s concerned about gaining weight – and the answer is no. In a candid Instagram post fitness fanatic Gemma says she sees pregnancy as her body changing shape and size while she experiences an ‘incredible miracle’.

Sharing a throwback photo of herself in a bikini on holiday in the Dominican Republic she told her followers: “I’m posting this because all I’ve been asked since people know I’m pregnant is ‘are you worried about putting on weight?’ Well, in a word, NO. I don’t see pregnancy as just someone gaining weight.

“I see it as my body shape and size changing because I’m lucky enough to be going through this incredible miracle which nature intended.

“A miracle sadly denied to many woman, so the last thing I’m going to be worrying about is that one of the side effects of my pregnancy is the fact I WILL GAIN WEIGHT.”

The Bury soap star and broadcaster added: “I’m extremely lucky to be in this situation. My cellulite will increase due to the rapid increase in oestrogen in my body.

“I’ll at times look bloated or have some spots and carry water retention due to my hormones changing, BUT all of the above are signs that my body is working correctly to house my baby.” A JURY heard the chilling 999 call made by the dad of a seven-year-old boy who had just been shot on the family home’s doorstep.

Christian Hickey and his mother Jayne, 30, were blasted in the legs after they opened the door of their home in a suburb in Winton, Eccles, on October 12, 2015.

And Manchester Crown Court heard Christian Hickey senior’s 999 call following the incident.

The first 999 call was made by Mr Hickey at 9.25pm, in which he can be heard pleading with the emergency operator for assistance.

Screams can also be heard in the background.

The court heard Mr Hickey say in the recording: “I think my son has been shot.

“Please, please. Quickly please. My son has been shot he is only seven years old. Quick. I’ve locked the door, I’ve locked the door. Please send someone quickly.”

He continues: “Please, please.

“It’s okay, don’t worry, don’t worry, you’re okay, you’re okay. Jayne where are you hit?”

More screaming can be heard in the background.

He said: “My son has been shot in the leg and my wife has been shot in both legs.

“Oh hurry up please. Hurry up.”

A second call was made on October 12 at 9.38pm by Mr Hickey where he asks for guidance about when the ambulance will arrive. The court was also told of the movements of an Audi S3, which Detective Sgt Paul Reece said was on a ‘reconnaissance mission’ ahead of the shooting.

Four men deny a charge of committing conspiracy to murder and with three others a conspiracy to pervert the course of justice, while another is charged over an earlier shooting.
