PSG manager confirms Verratti will face United

- By RICHARD FAY

PARIS Saint-Germain manager Thomas Tuchel has confirmed Marco Verratti is in contention to face United next week.

The Italy international had been a doubt for the Champions League fixture at Old Trafford on Tuesday night having failed to complete a training session earlier in the week.

Verratti has been out of action since January with an ankle injury and was believed to be a doubt for the trip to face United next week.

However, Tuchel has revealed that the 26-year-old is back in training now and will feature against Bordeaux this weekend prior to their trip to Old Trafford.

“Marco Verratti has trained without problems,” he said. “He and Layvin Kurzawa trained yesterday. We await the final session and I hope that they will both be able to play versus Bordeaux. However, it will not be for 90 minutes.

“Sure, it is not our best period of the season. However, it is not the time to doubt ourselves and lose confidence. We must stay calm and find solutions.

“Letting the Bordeaux match slide is out of the question, but I do have the ability to preserve certain players who have played a lot recently.”

The news will come as a huge boost to PSG as they prepare for the first-leg of their knockout tie against United without star forward Neymar.

Brazil international Neymar has been confirmed as an absentee for the match next week after limping off during PSG’s win in the French Cup against Strasbourg last month.
