Car smashes into store after collision

-

A HIGH-POWERED Audi smashed into a supermarket after an early-morning collision.

Pictures from the scene show the mangled wreckage of the black car, believed to be an Audi A6, wedged halfway through a doorway leading into the Wing Yip store in Ancoats.

Miraculously, police have confirmed no one was injured.

Oldham Road was closed between Thompson Street and Poland Street around the Chinese supermarket from 2.55am on Saturday morning as a result.

Police said officers initially responded to reports of a collision between the Audi and a blue Renault Clio.

Paramedics and firefighters also attended the scene. There were no arrests. Both drivers remained at the scene and spoke to officers, GMP confirmed.

Debris was strewn across the carriageway.

However the supermarket was open as usual on Saturday.
