OLE Gunnar Solskjaer believes his United squad is capable of beating any team in Europe ahead of their Champions League last-16 tie with Paris Saint-Germain.

But the Norwegian has warned his players against looking past PSG, who arrive at Old Trafford for the first leg tonight with mounting injury problems.

The Reds, on the other hand, ‘couldn’t be in a better frame of mind’ ahead of the clash with the Ligue 1 leaders, according to Solskjaer.

They’ve won 10 of 11 games under his stewardship and the caretaker manager also referenced the only dropped points of his reign so far – a 2-2 draw with Burnley – and said there remained a disappointment that United hadn’t won that match.

Confidence has rocketed at Old Trafford since Solskjaer took charge eight weeks ago and there is now a buzz ahead of the PSG tie and an excitement that United could go a long way in Europe, a theory Solskjaer wasn’t about to quash.

“The squad is very capable of winning against any opponents,” he said.

“When we go into games confident as we are, we are looking forward but we can’t look too far ahead. We have to look to PSG and make sure we go through this one and then take the next challenge as it comes.

“I said to the boys, ‘If we keep working every day in training, we can improve and maybe surprise a few’.”
