POLICE are investigating after a man was blasted in the legs three times as he sat watching TV with friends.

The victim was at a house in Duchy Road, when a gunman walked into the property and opened fire.

Tuesday night’s incident is the latest in a series of shootings in Salford in recent weeks.

In a statement, Greater Manchester Police said: “Shortly before 7.30pm on Tuesday, February 12, 2019, police were called to reports that a man was shot on Duchy Road, in Salford.

“Firearms officers attended and enquiries are ongoing.

“A 27-year-old man presented himself at hospital with leg injuries.

“His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.”

The M.E.N. understands that a possible link to a long-running feud between organised crime gang the A Team, and a rival group, dubbed the Antis, is one line of inquiry.

The dispute erupted in 2014 and resulted in a series of shootings, a grenade attack, machete attack and a murder.

On Wednesday last week, a shot was fired through the front door of a house in Howard Street, close to Salford Quays.

Two people were upstairs in the house at the time, but were not injured.

GMP said they believed that the house may have been “incorrectly targeted”.

The latest shooting was just yards away from the scene of a controlled explosion yesterday morning, after police found a “potentially viable device” and a gun.

A GMP spokesperson said the shooting and the controlled explosion were not being linked.

Anyone with information should call police on 101, quoting incident number 1897 of 12/02/2019, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
