Lukaku linked with potential switch

- By CHARLOTTE DUNCKER

UNITED are prepared to let Romelu Lukaku leave in order to sign a new striker in the summer.

The Belgian has struggled for form this season and various reports claim the Reds are ready to offload him and bring in either Paulo Dybala or Mauro Icardi.

United have already begun talks with both Juventus and Inter Milan over potential deals for both players as they push ahead with plans for the summer transfer window, The Mirror reports.

It is claimed that United want a mobile, goal-scoring striker and both players are currently being considered.

There’s also the suggestion Lukaku will be offered as a sweetener in an attempt to bring down the £100m transfer fee which would be demanded for both players.

Lukaku is aware of the situation, the report claims, and would not be against making the switch, although he would prefer to join Juventus over Inter.

United are also said to be willing to pay the huge compensation fee that would come with trying to land Mauricio Pochettino as permanent United manager.

The Spurs boss remains a priority, although Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s results mean he has pushed himself firmly in contention.

The Evening Standard reports United will not be put off Pochettino despite the compensation fee of around £34m.
