Woman is rescued from blaze at house

A WOMAN was rescued by firefighte­rs and taken to hospital after a blaze broke out at a house.

Fire crews were called to reports of a blaze at a terraced property on Mill Lane North, in Reddish, Stockport.

A woman was rescued by firefighte­rs from the house.

She was treated at the scene by crews before being taken in an ambulance to hospital.

Three engines, from Gorton and Whitehill stations, arrived to the scene of the fire at 10.20pm on Wednesday.

They used six breathing apparatus and three hose reels to tackle the blaze. The cause of the fire is being investigat­ed.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were called at 10.20pm to Mill Lane North, in Reddish.

“Three engines from Gorton and Whitehill attended.

“Crews found a fire involving a rear ground floor of a terraced property.

“They used six breathing apparatus and three hose reels to bring it under control.

“Firefighte­rs rescued a woman from the property who was treated by firefighte­rs, but was conscious and breathing.

“A fan was used to clear the building but the fire didn’t spread to any of the adjacent properties.

“An investigat­ion into the fire is taking place this morning.”
