A MAN crushed to death by a lorry reversing into a loading bay at a city centre skyscraper has been named.

A file has been passed to the coroner following 53-year-old Lee Warburton’s tragic death.

His Facebook profile has become a “Remembering” page, with tributes continuing to pour in.

Mr Warburton died after he was hit by the lorry on New York Street, in Manchester city centre, at around 9am on Tuesday.

A police investigation is ongoing. The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is also probing the circumstances surrounding Mr Warburton’s death.

The M.E.N. understands he was acting as a banksman as the lorry reversed into a loading bay at City Tower.

Banksmen are operatives trained to direct vehicles.

City Tower is a 30-storey office building with a number of retailers on the ground floor.

It is understood the lorry was making a delivery to one of the businesses when Mr Warburton was fatally injured.

A 48-year-old man, arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving in the wake of the incident, was later released under investigation.

A spokesperson for the HSE said the regulator is aware of the incident and is “making enquiries in liaison with Greater Manchester Police”.

A spokesperson for City Tower said: “We are extremely saddened to hear of the incident.

“Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the victim and anyone else affected by this tragic event.”

GMP said in a “Enquiries are ongoing.” statement:
