Gemma glows at charity bash
GEMMA Atkinson was ‘glowing’ as she headed out on a date night with her partner Gorka Márquez. The pregnant radio presenter and actress showed off her mum-to-be style in a chic black dress and sparkling bow-detail shoes, completing the look with a smart khaki green coat and black clutch bag.
And Strictly Come Dancing professional Gorka looked dapper in a black suit and grey waistcoat with a deep red tie. “You are glowing!” complemented one fan on a photo posted on Gemma’s Instagram. “You are both oozing happiness, beautiful,” said another. The couple attended the annual Glamour of Manchester Childline Ball at the Midland Hotel, which raised £150,000 for the counselling service for children and young people. “Date night for a wonderful cause in Manchester,” Gemma told her followers. Over the weekend Gemma also delighted fans with a new look at her growing baby bump in a snap shared on her Instagram and Twitter – and it got some fans speculating over the sex of Baby Márquez. “I’ve got a feeling it’s a little girl,” said one follower. “Awww a boy Gemma,” said another about the snap, which showed her in a blue denim shirt.
Gemma and Gorka announced their baby news on February 1 by posting an adorable photo of their pet dogs Ollie and Norman on Instagram, posing with little signs around their necks.
The Childline event, which was hosted by DJ Darren Proctor and featured performances by Wet Wet Wet frontman Kevin Simm, comedian Justin Moorhouse, DJ Clint Boon, and Mr Wilson’s Second Liners, showcased the cream of Mancunian talent while raising money for children needing support.
And former Emmerdale actress Gemma, from Bury, read out the heart-wrenching story of a woman who feels she was saved by Childline when she was a child.
She was joined on stage by broadcaster Mike Sweeney and actor Karl Greenwood to illustrate the work Childline does on a daily basis.
Rachel Walker, NSPCC senior development manager, said: “We’ve had hundreds of guests attend again this year, and we’re so happy that people have supported us and had a great time once again.”
