Vital win makes it 22 unbeaten for County

- NON-LEAGE ROUND-UP By ALEX HENDLEY

MORE than 6,000 fans witnessed Stockport County go 22 games unbeaten at Edgeley Park, meaning a win at Boston tomorrow will send the Hatters top of the National League North.

Manager Jim Gannon was serving the last of his three-games touchline ban, as County registered a vital 1-0 win over promotion rivals Spennymoor Town thanks to a Sam Walker free-kick.

Altrincham also picked up an important victory, seeing off play-off competition Chester 4-0 at Moss Lane.

After Chester captain Scott Burton saw red, the Robins capitalised with goals from Joe Piggott, Josh Hancock (two) and John Johnston.

Curzon Ashton earned an impressive point at Bradford PA, drawing 2-2 to remain nine points from the play-offs. Goals from the Nash’s Ryan Brooke and Cameron McJannett were cancelled out by a brace from Jake Beesley.

FC United failed to narrow the gap to survival as they drew 2-2 at home with 18th-placed Hereford.

The Rebels took the lead through Chris Sharp but strikes from Mike Symons and Eliot Richards looked to be sending Neil Reynolds’ side to defeat. Kurt Willoughby’s late freekick rescued a point as FC United remain six points from safety and with just one win in 2019.

Ashton United fell to a 2-0 defeat at Alfreton as the Robins stay three points adrift in the relegation zone.
