Country star Carrie books in for Manchester date

COUNTRY star Carrie Underwood has announced a UK tour calling at Manchester Arena this summer.

The multi-platinum selling artist and seven-time Grammy Award winner is hitting the road in support of her sixth studio album Cry Pretty. After finding fame as the winner of American Idol in 2005, Carrie has gone on to sell 64 million records worldwide and have 26 number one singles in the USA.

Over the course of her career she has made numerous visits to the UK, where she helped to establish the Country to Country Festival – the biggest celebratio­n of country music outside the US.

She will be joined on tour by UK country duo The Shires.

Announcing the dates in an Instagram video, she said: “I just wanted to check in and say that life is good and we’re all getting very excited that the Cry Pretty tour is going to be starting soon, in May. But I’ve got some news – we are coming to the UK, bringing the Cry Pretty tour overseas and we’re just super excited. I can’t wait to see you guys there.”

The UK tour opens on June 27 at Birmingham Resorts World Arena before calling at Cardiff Motorpoint Arena (June 30), Glasgow SSE Hydro (July 2), Manchester Arena (July 3) and London Wembley SSE Arena (July 4).

Tickets go on sale on Thursday (March 7) at 9am from Ticketmast­er or AXS here. £1 from each ticket sold for The Cry Pretty Tour UK will be donated to Danita’s Children, which supports children and families in Haiti.

Meanwhile Ryan Adams has cancelled his UK tour including the Manchester show.
