Scholes positive Latics can pick up form

- LEAGUE TWO By ALEC WHITTAKER @MENSports

OLDHAM manager Paul Scholes complimented the attitude and commitment of his side and is convinced that results will improve if they can eradicate ‘silly mistakes’ late on in matches.

It comes after they conceded yet another late stoppage time goal to draw 1-1 with Stevenage on Saturday.

The Latics have had a fairly discouraging start since Scholes arrival, scoring but also conceding in every game, taking five points out of his first five games as manager.

But Scholes is adamant that his side are capable of finding the winning formula.

“I knew this team had quality before I came here, Scholes said.

“The attitude of the players has been brilliant, they’ve work hard in training and the standards have been very good.

“I know we’re going to win games, but we just need to cut out the silly mistakes and I think we’ll be okay.

“It’s alright me thinking that, but we’ve got to go out and actually do it. We’ve only won one out of five and we’ve conceded three late goals now which is disappointing.”

Oldham travel south to Cambridge on Saturday as Scholes looks to record his first away win, which will prove to be a difficult challenge considering the Latics have only recorded one win in their last five away matches and with the U’s being four unbeaten at home.
