Lap dancing club wants extra time

CALL FOR LONGER HOURS AFTER CITY AND UNITED EURO MATCHES

- By STEVE ROBSON

A CITY centre lap dancing club wants longer opening hours after United or City play in the Champions League.

Victorias gentlemen’s club on Dantzic Street, opposite the Printworks, is currently open from Monday to Sunday between 7pm and 4.30am.

The company which owns the club, Roefax Ltd, has now applied to the council for a variation on its licence.

They want to stay open until 6.30am at certain times, including the morning following any Champions League match played in the city.

They also want the extra hours every Friday and Saturday, and on Sundays preceding a Bank Holiday Monday.

Bosses are also asking to be able to use flyers and promotional material – currently forbidden – ‘if the imagery and content has been agreed by the licensing authority.’

On its website, Victorias describes itself as ‘Manchester’s newest gentlemen’s club... in the heart of the leisure/ nightlife district.’

Victorias has been approached for further comment.

Two other city centre lap dancing clubs recently had their licences renewed for another 12 months.

The Women’s Equality Party spoke at both hearings, calling for a complete ban on sexual entertainment venues in Manchester.

Any objections to the granting of the variation on the licence for Victorias must made in writing to the licensing unit - premises.licensing@manchester.gov.uk - by no later than March 18.
