CORONATION Street star Kate Ford says her son has found a hilarious way of trying to embarrass her in public.
The Corrie favourite, who plays Tracy Barlow, says her son, Otis, attempts to show her up when he is annoyed with her by shouting her character name in a northern accent.
Kate, who lives in London with her 10-year-old son, had her followers ‘howling’ with laughter on Twitter when she shared her parenting experience.
She said: “If my son is annoyed with me, he’s taken to shouting ‘It’s Tracy Barlow’ in a northern accent in public.”
Former co-star Hayley Tamaddon who played Andrea Beckett, said: “This has made me howl, Kate!”
Sue Cleaver, who plays Eileen Grimshaw, replied with four crying-with-laughter emojis. One fan told her: “Tracy Barlow doesn’t sound right if it’s not in a northern accent!” Another tweeted: “I hope you tell him you’re going upstairs to play your tapes.” And another fan said: “I’m sorry Kate but this is too funny.” Salford-born Kate has played Tracy, famous as a teenager for stomping upstairs to listen to her tapes when she was in a mood, since 2002. The florist is married to Street Cars boss Steve McDonald and there were hilarious scenes last year when they danced to (I’ve Had) The Time Of My Life from Dirty Dancing at their wedding – until she punched him for having an affair with Leanne Battersby. She then abandoned her new husband on their honeymoon and left him stranded in Morocco, returning to the Street without him.
