Alexander hopes Ammies have turned the corner

- By CHARLIE GREGORY

SALFORD City manager Graham Alexander hopes his side have turned a corner in their season after three successive league victories.

The Ammies, who were without a win in seven games in all competitions, have since beaten Ebbsfleet United, Sutton United and Solihull Moors - all without conceding.

Their sharp upturn in form has seen them re-enter promotion contention in the National League.

“We can compete with anyone in this division,” said Salford boss Alexander.

“We’ve shown that against clubs at the top end of this league, but we’ve got to make sure we’ve learned from our lessons over the winter and ensure that we don’t make the same mistakes.

“We’ve learned a lot about ourselves and the qualities within our group, and we have to maximise what we have. We know we’ve got many aspects in that squad that tick a lot of boxes to win games.

“On certain match-days, though, we didn’t do ourselves justice, but hopefully we’ve turned that around.”

With nine games remaining this season, and seven of those fixtures against teams lying in the bottom half of the table, Alexander is optimistic his squad are capable of achieving their goals.

He said: “The character of the players is there for all to see. You don’t have some of the results we’ve had this season and turn around a terrible run of form with three straight wins against tough opposition unless you’ve got that personality and character within your squad.”
