Ben’s excited for Jamestown visit
TWO Greater Manchester stars are set to star in the final series of TV drama Jamestown. Burnage-born Max Beesley will reprise his role as Henry Sharrow in the final instalment of the Brit drama series alongside newly-cast Ben Batt, who hails from Wigan.
Series three of the Jamestown trilogy begins on Friday, April 26, on Sky One.
The historical drama, produced by the brains behind Downton Abbey, charts the journey of English settlers in America in 1619 as the first women arrive in the colony of Jamestown, Virginia where they are duty bound to be married to early Virginian settlers. Beesley, best known for his role in BBC drama Hotel Babylon, has been in part of Jamestown from the beginning while newbie Batt, will be recognised by fans as the villainous Joe Pritchard in Channel 4’s Shameless.
Batt, 33, joins the series as enigmatic trader Willmus Crabtree. He said: “I am delighted to have joined the Jamestown cast, it’s such an incredible show. I am excited to see how my character shakes up the dynamic among the settlers, and I am really enjoying working with such a talented cast and crew.”
In the trailer for the final eight-episodes, filmed in Budapest, fans will see tensions rise as the flourishing community seeks expansion on to Pamunkey land, and with politics in the air, the idealism of the New World is tested.
