Man stabbed at bar
VICTIM TAKEN TO HOSIPTAL WITH SERIOUS INJURIES
A MAN was taken to hospital after being stabbed at a bar in Spinningfields.
Police were called to the attack at Neighbourhood at around 1.25am.
The victim was taken to hospital with stab wounds. Police described the man’s injuries as serious but non-lifethreatening.
Bosses at Neighbourhood confirmed an incident had occurred at the venue.
A post on the bar’s Facebook page said it would be closed on Sunday due to ‘unforeseen circumstances.’
Ashley Orr, general manager at Neighbourhood in Manchester, said: “There was an incident at our Manchester venue in the early hours of Sunday morning (17 March 2019).
“As with any incident, we take our responsibility to customers extremely serious and the police are now investigating this matter.”
A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: “We were called to that location at 1.25am on Sunday to reports of a stabbing.
“Officers confirmed a disturbance had occurred and as a result a male adult had sustained serious injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.
“His injuries were consistent with stab wounds.
“Enquiries to locate the offender are ongoing.”
The bar’s licence was suspended after police raised major concerns about safety in March last year. The popular celeb-haunt reopened a month later under the proviso it adhered to a number conditions set by Manchester council’s licensing committee.
These including installing a fixed metal detector at the main entrance and compulsory ID checks on customers.
All wine glasses, champagne flutes, tumblers and pint glasses are replaced by plastic vessels over weekends.
Anyone with information about yesterday’s incident is asked contact police on 101.
