UNITED Sancho drops a hint over move to United

FORMER City winger Jadon Sancho dropped a Twitter hint that he could be on his way to United - but then deleted the proof.

It came as Rio Ferdinand urged the club to swoop for the England player and praised the Borussia Dortmund forward, who has become one of the most sought-after players in Europe.

Publishers Goal shared an interview on Twitter, saying: “Ferdinand would love to see Sancho in a Man Utd shirt”.

Sancho, who is currently on England international duty, then retweeted the post – before quickly deleting it.

United, who were keen on signing Sancho from City before his move to the Bundesliga in 2017, are said to be interested in bringing the 18-year-old back to England this summer.

The teenager has enjoyed a breakthrough season with Dortmund, scoring nine times and notching 17 assists in 35 appearances for Lucien Favre’s side.

United would likely have to break their own Premier League transfer record to sign Sancho this summer, with a possible £100m fee being bandied around. Ferdinand, who is a friend of Sancho’s family, believes he would be worth it.

“I would take him [at United] all day,” Ferdinand told Goal. “English, young, hungry and talented, that’s all I need to know.

“I have known Jadon since he was a kid, knew him through friends. I have known his family since he was a kid, before he was even born.

“He has got the mentality. The mentality is a big part of it all, whether “The kid’s mentality, to leave Manchester City, who wanted him to stay, to just say ‘My ability deserves it and I think I can do it straight away, right now. I am not waiting.’ “And he has gone and done that. You have to respect that. “So if someone asked me whether I would take Jadon Sancho, with all due respect to Borussia Dortmund, I would say yes, 100 per cent.” Rio Ferdinand he has the physical attributes or not.
