A YOUNG man has been left with facial injuries after he was subjected to a homophobic attack.

Jordan Mason, 22, was verbally abused before being assaulted with a rock as he walked home from a party.

The bartender had been walking alone in the early hours of the morning when he says he heard a male voice say, “you f ***** queer.”

Jordan said before he had a chance to look the person in the face, he was hit over the head with a rock.

His attacker fled the scene, leaving Jordan unconscious on the ground for several hours.

He says the attack has left him feeling extremely vulnerable and that he has struggled to leave the house since his ordeal.

Speaking to the M.E.N, Jordan said: “All I can remember was waking up on the floor face down, absolutely drenched in blood, with a banging headache.

“It has made me really scared. In daylight I feel okay but at night time I keep thinking, what is going to happen next.

“I am constantly looking over my shoulder and I don’t want to leave the house.”

Jordan said he had been at a party with his partner, Ian, who had decided to leave earlier in the evening.

“Everything at the party was fine and I went to leave and decided to go for a short walk to sober myself up before heading home,” Jordan said.

“As I was walking, all I heard was a male voice saying “you gay queer.”

“I turned around and before I could see the person’s face they hit me with a rock over the head.

“There was literally nobody around and I didn’t know what to do so I headed for a friend’s house nearby. Luckily she answered the door and cleaned my wounds and made me a cup of tea.

“After that I went straight home as I just wanted to get into bed and forget about what happened.”

Jordan says he has been signed off work for two weeks following the attack in Bollington.

“It has made me really scared that something like this is going to happen again,” he said.

“Nothing like this has ever happened to me before – I did my first Accrington Pride this year and didn’t receive any abuse.

“I feel like this is happening more often in Manchester. Every time I go on Facebook now I see a hate crime happening to someone. “I can’t believe this is still happening in 2019.

“I just can’t believe there are still small-minded people out there.”

A spokesman for Cheshire Police said: “At 4am on 1 September a 22-yearold man was walking along Ingersley Road in Bollington when he heard someone behind him shout a homophobic comment.

“He turned around and a man hit him on the head with a brick, causing him to fall to the floor and lose consciousness.”
