CITY ON A HILL SKY ATLANTIC, 9PM

THIS Boston-set crime drama has plenty of good names attached to it that should be enough to draw anyone in.

Produced by Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, it stars Kevin Bacon alongside Aldis Hodge in a story of corruption and racism within law enforcement.

It begins with a reminder of a true story from 1989. A white man, Chuck Stuart, killed his wife and claimed the killer was black.

The police used appalling methods to investigate innocent black men. Later Stuart’s brother told the truth and Stuart committed suicide. “All hell broke loose.”

In this fictionalised account of events, Bacon is corrupt FBI agent Jackie Rohr. To give you an idea of his character, he says: “What used to make this city great is that it was run by bad men who understood that they were bad.”

He reluctantly teams up with African American DA Decourcy Ward (Hodge) but the pair struggle to align their moral compasses.

COMEDIANS GIVING LECTURES DAVE, 10PM

A FRESH twist on the stand-up comedy format, this sees some familiar faces on the comedy circuit give their version of real lectures.

Host Sara Pascoe explains: “It’s a show that effortlessly combines education and entertainment – like a teacher getting year nine into Shakespeare by doing rap.”

Once the comedians have given their lectures, their efforts are judged by an expert from that field as well as the bemused studio audience.

In this opening episode, Nish Kumar, a “frustrated academic lacking in talent”, delivers a lecture on ‘10 Ways The World Could End’.

Later on, Natasia Demetriou talks about ‘Anatomy Of The Vagina’, and Tom Allen, most familiar from Bake Off’s Extra Slice, gives a lecture on ‘Why We Make Bad Decisions’.

There’s plenty of banter with the experts as the three compete to give the audience the best education.

You won’t likely learn anything, but you will laugh a lot.
