Rochdale settle for draw after late equaliser

-

ROCHDALE conceded a late leveller as they were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Lincoln City in League One last night.

Dale, on the back of Saturday’s 6-0 drubbing at Peterborough, started brightly with Callum Camps seeing a decent shout for a penalty turned away, Stephen Dooley’s shot blocked and a fine run from Ollie Rathbone ending with a rising drive which flew narrowly wide.

Brian Barry-Murphy’s men took the lead after 12 minutes, Camps’ effort beaten away by Josh Vickers but the Lincoln goalkeeper’s attempted clearance falling invitingly for Dooley to sweep home.

Rekeil Pyke went close to a second, firing into the side netting after Camps’ initial shot was blocked.

After the interval, Lincoln grew into the game and went desperately close when Tyler Walker almost touched home Joe Morrell’s delivery from the left.

Jack Payne forced a terrific save out of Robert Sanchez and both Walker and Payne saw efforts cleared off the line as the pressure grew on Dale’s goal.

The deserved leveller came in the 86th minute when Harry Toffolo’s fierce cross from the left took a slight deflection on its way past Sanchez.

Meanwhile in League Two, a 21st-minute strike from Mark Shelton earned Salford City a 1-0 win over Grimsby at the Peninsula Stadium.

The win moved Graham Alexander’s men up to 16th

While Oldham once again let a 2-0 lead slip, this time on the road at Scunthorpe United.

The Latics lead through second-half efforts from Christopher Missilou and Johan Branger only for Matty Lund and Kevin van Veen to hit back and level for the hosts.
