Adam’s got a new venture on menu
FORMER Emmerdale star Adam Thomas has revealed his exciting new venture after leaving the soap.
Adam, who played Adam Barton in the rural soap, is launching a cafe and restaurant with his best friend Scott Graham - and he’s been so nervous about his ‘new job,’ it’s given him sleepless nights.
The actor from Cheadle and Manchester street food trader Scott – the founder of Oh My Glaze – are opening The Spinn in a former electrical shop in Gatley village.
Writing about The Spinn in a frank Instagram post, Adam said: “Today I start a new job! A job that I’ve had sleepless nights about, because it’s something I’ve never done before.
“A job personally I don’t think I’ll be any good at, haha, but you know what? I am gonna give it everything I’ve got!
“Nervous is an understatement! Constantly dealing with self-doubt but I am tired of the voice in my head holding me back! I want to be the man and father my kids look up to... I want to try new things, I want to take risks!
“If it doesn’t work out, at least I took the jump!”
Adam and Scott have been friends since they were 15 and both attended The Kingsway School in Cheadle.
“It’s very exciting,” Adam told the The Diary.
“I’m from Cheadle and I wanted to give something back to the community and I’m going to be hands-on.
“I’ll be behind the bar pulling pints.
“It’s very different for me. I’ll still be doing my acting but this is something that I’ve wanted to do for a long time.
“It’s going to be a cafe in the day and at night we’ll be serving cocktails.”
The Spinn on Gatley Road, which opens to the public tomorrow, will serve small plates and street food.
“I’m very excited to be doing this with my best friend,” he added. “I’m the best man at his wedding this Christmas.”
Adam shot to fame playing pupil Donte Charles in the Rochdale-based BBC One school drama Waterloo Road from 2006 to 2009.
And he played farmhand and businessman Adam in Emmerdale from 2009.
The soap star married dancer Caroline at Delamere Manor in Cheshire in August 2017.
