White closing in on return for Blues

-

ELLEN White has returned to training with City as the England striker continues her recovery from a knee injury.

The 30-year-old is yet to make her debut for the Blues having joined over the summer after undergoing surgery on meniscus damage.

City boss Nick Cushing said: “Ellen White has been running around the pitch today. She’s had her boots on and it’s really positive.”

Cushing, whose side play their Champions League last-32 second leg against Lugano tonight, added: “Georgia Stanway is still out with a

“If they want to do that [investigate] and ask for Bernardo, I think he will be open to talk. But first you have to know exactly which person you are talking about.

“There are many situations with people, with white people and you look at a cartoon and the face is quite similar as your face and you put it in there, it is quite similar.

“I think the response from Mendy was clear after that. They are joking all the time. Maybe what I say as advice is to hide social media… if something happened it would be a mistake.

Lauren Hemp has been training non-contact over the last seven days.

“None of them will be available for selection but we’ll leave it with the medical team. The group we have available will be ready for the game.”

City head into the game at the Academy Stadium having thrashed their Swiss opponents 7-1 in the first leg.

“I don’t really have any techniques as such (to maintain mental approach at 7-1 up),” added Cushing. “It’s about the understanding that this performance plays a huge role in the weekend’s (Women’s Super League) game against Everton - irrelevant of the score, we want to put in a good performance and play like we have been.

“Otherwise, we would go into the game almost on a negative. It’s irrelevant whether we go through with a win or on aggregate - the performance has to be there. Everton are up there with us - they’ve started well and they look really improved.”

City face Everton away on Sunday with both sides having won each of their two WSL games this season.
