Teen knifed on Curry Mile bus
BOY, 17, STABBED ON THE 142 BY TERRIFYING ‘KNIFEMAN IN BALACLAVA’
A TEENAGE boy was stabbed on a 142 Magic Bus on the Curry Mile in Rusholme after a ‘knifeman in a balaclava’ left people terrified.
Police were called to reports of someone being stabbed on Wilmslow Road, near the junction of Claremont Road, just after 4pm yesterday.
A 17-year-old boy was knifed. His injuries are not believed to be lifethreatening. It has not been confirmed whether any arrests have been made.
GMP say they are treating the incident as ‘isolated.’
There is not believed to be any threat to the wider public, the force added in a statement.
A Stagecoach Magic Bus was taped off by police at the side of the road while officers blocked the road in both directions.
One witness posted on Facebook to say she had ‘run off the bus’ when a ‘guy got on with a knife.’
She said the passengers were ‘crammed on to another bus’ while officers raced to the scene.
They said they were left ‘bit shaken’ and had that their ‘heart [was] racing.’
A woman on another bus said: “A man wearing a balaclava jumped from the bus running in the direction of Fallowfield.
“Other passengers from the bus fled for safety. One banged on the window of my bus and shouted ‘someone’s been shanked, let me on.’
“The bus driver opened the doors to take the passenger in.”
A GMP spokeswoman said: “Police were called to reports of a stabbing on a bus on Wilmslow Road, Manchester shortly after 4pm.
“A 17 year old boy was taken to hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life threatening. “Enquiries are ongoing. “This is being treated as an isolated incident and there is not believed to be any threat to the wider public.
