IT’S A CHER THING!

POP ICON BRINGS HER HERE WE GO AGAIN TOUR TO THE ARENA:

- By EMILY HEWARD

GET ready to turn back time - pop icon Cher lands in Manchester next week as part of her first UK tour in 14 years. After finding fame in the 1960s as one half of Sonny & Cher with her then-husband Sonny Bono, the 73-year-old superstar’s career has spanned five decades and shows no signs of slowing down.

Last year, the Oscar-winning actress (she earned an Academy Award in 1988 for best actress for her role in Moonstruck) was critically acclaimed for her turn as Meryl Streep’s mum in Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again.

An ABBA tribute album, Dancing Queen - her TWENTY SIXTH studio album - swiftly followed, along with the announcement of this tour to promote it.

Fans can look forward to covers like Waterloo and Fernando as well as some of her biggest hits from over the years, from Sonny & Cher classic I Got You Babe to her Grammy-winning 1998 track Believe - which still holds the UK record for the best-selling single of all time by a female artist more than two decades later.

There were still tickets left to the show, at the time of writing - but they’ll cost you a pretty penny.

Even Cher herself has hit out at the prices, which ranged from £136.30 to £391.30 when the cheaper £74.70 seats quickly sold out.

Replying to one outraged fan, she wrote on Twitter: “I think it’s ridiculous.”

She then replied to another user to say: “I DONT LIKE TICKET PRICES, SO HIGH FANS CANT AFFORD TO COME TO MY SHOWS. ID RATHER DO A FEW EXTRA SHOWS.

“I’m Sorry .... It’s been a Long time since I’ve been There & Dont Know What Promoters,Arenas,Artists (Me) Split Is? Ppl should be able to get some cheaper seats.”

The lowest priced seats still available at the time of writing were £136.30, in the lower tier.
