My catchphrase at a funeral? No likey!

-

PADDY McGuinness is well known for his Take Me Out catchphrases - such as ‘no likey, no lighty.’.. and variations of ‘let the onion see the bhaji.’ But, sometimes, people repeat his sayings to him in the oddest of places.

Speaking about the new series of the ITV dating show, the Bolton comic revealed the weirdest time he’s ever been approached.

Paddy, 46, said: “I was once at a funeral and someone said to me, ‘Let the ashes see the urn,’ which I thought was a bit odd. I mean, there’s a time and a place. “That’s probably the strangest place.” Thankfully, encounters with fans are not always that awkward.

Paddy said: “Sometimes people panic and say the wrong thing. I’ll walk in and they’ll try and get the catchphrase out quickly and instead say something like, ‘let the table see the shoes.’

“It’s nice that they know it, that’s the thing. With a phrase like Bruce Forsyth’s ‘nice to see you, to see you nice,’ you know what the show is just by hearing that sentence.

“When people hear, ‘no likey, no lighty,’ even if it’s out of context, they know exactly what show it’s referring to.”

After stints on Top Gear and Celebrity Juice, Paddy will be back on screen this Saturday for the 11th series of Take Me Out.

As well as the regular series, this time round viewers can expect two special episodes, including one 80s themed and another that features people from the emergency services.

Paddy said: “We’ve done an over-50s special in the past, but this is the decade, it’s celebrating the 80s, so I’ve gone back to my Miami Vice days.

“I’ll be in a white suit with a pastel vest and all the girls will have big hair. The music and everything about the show will be 80s.

“I’m really looking forward to that, it’ll be a lot of fun.”

Take Me Out returns to ITV on Saturday, at 7.15pm.
