Lois is head of the Parade for Ammies

SALFORD City’s recent upturn in form continued with an impressive win at Newport County.

Last season’s League Two play-off finalists hadn’t lost at home in the league this season.

But the Ammies, claimed a 2-1 win at Rodney Parade which moves them up to 11th, just three points behind County who occupy the final play-off place in seventh.

Cameron Burgess put Salford ahead five minutes before the break, but Nathan Pond scored an own goal with the final kick of the first half.

Lois Maynard proved Salford’s hero with the 54th-minute winner.

The Ammies are at home to Burton Albion on Saturday in the first round of the FA Cup.

Meanwhile, Oldham fought back to claim a dramatic 2-2 draw against in-form Northampto­n.

The Cobblers were looking for a fourth straight win as they arrived at Boundary Park.

And they made the perfect start with Matthew Warburton (6) and Andy Williams (80) putting them in command.

But Scott Wilson scored with five minutes left and then Jonny Smith netted in the 89th minute to claim an unlikely point for the Latics.

It is now three games unbeaten for Oldham, who sit 20th in the table, three points clear of bottom club Morecambe.

Forest Green took over at the top with a 2-1 win at Cheltenham.

Jack Aitchison (15) and Elliott Frear (40) gave them a comfortabl­e halftime lead. Luke Varney pulled one back midway through the second half, but Forest Green held on to take the Gloucester­shire derby bragging rights.

Crewe lost top spot and dropped to fourth as Port Vale took the derby spoils with a 1-0 victory at Gresty Road.

Carlisle claimed a first win in six games with a 2-1 home victory against Macclesfie­ld.

Theo Archibald put the Silkmen ahead after 25 minutes before Harry McKirdy equalised in firsthalf stoppage time.

Ryan Loft was the Cumbrians’ hero with a long-range effort eight minutes from time.

In League One, Rochdale lost 2-1 at home to Bristol Rovers.

Victor Adeboyejo put the visitors in front from a corner after eight minutes, with an own goal from Dale defender Eoghan O’Connell soon doubling the lead before Callum Camps pulled a goal back just before halftime for Dale.
