UNDISCOVERED COUNTRY #1

SET just 30 years in the future, Undiscovered Country takes place in the lost nation of the United States.

In this oversized first issue, a team seeking a cure for a global pandemic is sent to breach the walls of the US, which sealed itself off from the world without explanation.

There’s been considerable excitement around the release of this comic, which is being hailed as the next Walking Dead.

Online news site Deadline reports it’s already been at the centre of a Hollywood bidding war. Make up your mind as the comic, from writers Scott Snyder, Charles Soule and artist Giuseppe Camuncoli, is out now for £3.60.

RETURN TO THE SPIDER-VERSE

THE Oscar-winning Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse was a highlight of last year’s cinema. Now Miles Morales et al are getting at least one sequel and a host of spin-offs, it has been announced.

The sequel won’t land until April 2022, but that’s a short time to wait when you consider how much work goes into the animation.

While Spider-Verse didn’t set the box office alight, it was a huge fan hit for Sony, which could do with all the good PR it can get surrounding Spider-Man after its spat with Marvel over character rights. This news will go a long way to keeping the fans happy.

CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS: BOX SET

FEELING rich and fancy treating yourself? Then this gorgeous box set is just the ticket.

First serialised as a 12-issue limited series in the mid-80s, Crisis on Infinite Earths was an attempt by writer Marv Wolfman to abandon the DC Multiverse as depicted in the company’s comics – which he thought was unfriendly to readers – and create a single, unified DC Universe. What he created went on to popularise the idea of large-scale crossovers in comics.

Included here is every Crisis tale leading up to and including Crisis on Infinite Earths, printed for the first time in hardcover.

It doesn’t come cheap, setting you back £400, or £276 from the lovely people at Forbidden Planet.
