Parkinson full of praise for Robins in victory over Gateshead

- By DAVE CROWTHER-GREEN

ALTRINCHAM manager Phil Parkinson praised his side’s ‘professional performance’ after their 3-0 win over Gateshead at Moss Lane on Tuesday.

The result saw the Robins record back-to-back league wins for the first time this season, following their 5-1 win over Hereford on Saturday.

“A really professional performance, the lads were superb, carried out the instructions and executed the tactics superbly as they have done for the last two months,” said Parkinson.

“Unfortunately there’s been a lot of cup games, so our league position hasn’t been great, but that gives us a little bit of breathing space. We’re now looking up the league rather than behind us.

“It was really pleasing to see that lads could recognise the situation they were in and press but also be compact when we needed to be.”

Striker Jordan Hulme was again on the scoresheet after his hat trick at the weekend and the Robins’ boss was quick to praise his recent form.

He said: “He took it really well but then again, that’s what he does. He scores goals.

“When he’s through, you fancy him nine times out of ten to finish and that’s what he did.”

Altrincham now face another two fixtures away from the league in both the FA Cup and Trophy, which Parkinson believes highlighted the importance of Tuesday’s win.

He added: “There’s some massive games coming up, so it was really important that we re-focused on the league.

“But now we’ve got to go again in the cups because we want to have fight on all frontiers.”
