Police release CCTV images following bar attack on man

POLICE have released CCTV images after a man was viciously attacked at a bar.

The 22-year-old suffered injuries described by police as ‘serious’ to his head and face.

He had surgery and detectives said he was now recovering.

Police in Bury described the assault as ‘a violent and unprovoked incident’ and are now appealing for anyone with informatio­n to come forward.

The images taken from the bar’s CCTV system picture a number of men.

The victim was assaulted at a bar on Silver Street in Bury town centre.

It happened at around 2.30am on November 24 last year, but details have only just been released by Greater Manchester Police.

No arrests have been made so far.

In a statement, GMP said: “At around 2.30am on Sunday, November 24, 2019, a 22-year-old man was assaulted by three men at a bar on Silver Street in Bury.

“The man suffered serious injuries to his head and face, which later required surgery.

”No arrests have been made and enquires are ongoing.”

Detective Constable Robert Leacy, of Bury CID, said: “This was a violent and unprovoked incident which left an innocent young man in hospital with serious injuries.

“The victim has had surgery and is now recovering.

“Our thoughts are with him and his family as we continue our investigat­ions.

“I understand that this offence happened a while ago but our officers have been following every line of enquiry and analysed several CCTV opportunit­ies.

“As a result, we have been able to release these images in the hope of talking to the two men in these photos.

“If you recognise these men or have any informatio­n that could help with our investigat­ions, please contact police.”
