Vic back in picture for Cup clash PLUS Pogba cares about United

- By SAMUEL LUCKHURST

VICTOR Lindelof could return for United in their FA Cup fourth round tie at League One Tranmere Rovers on Sunday.

Lindelof missed the midweek Premier League defeat to Burnley through illness but has recovered and could return to the starting XI at Prenton Park. Solskjaer is expected to rotate his team but there are concerns over the pitch, which forced Tranmere’s third round replay victory over Watford to be pushed back by nine days.

Eric Bailly was an unused substitute in the last two games against Liverpool and Burnley and could make his comeback on Merseyside, despite the state of the pitch.

“Victor has recovered so he’s well again,” Solskjaer said. “So let’s see how well he feels today and tomorrow. And apart from that no one has got any knocks that’s anything to think about.

“Eric has had a couple of behind-closed-doors games here. The pitch is not great but that’s the same for both of us and the players just have to be focused, ready, there are divots everywhere.

“This generation coming through, with astro turf and nice pitches, they get lazier in the heads. So Eric is probably one of them who’s more prepared for a game with that pitch.

“So everyone’s got to be focused for both injuries and the bounce of the ball.”

Tranmere is the first of three games before United start their 16-day winter break, but Solskjaer is feeling bullish about the Tranmere test.

“Of course we can go again,” he added. “It’s the second day today of recovery, you’ve just got to get on with it, you’ve got to go on to the next one with the right mentality.”
