BEST OF THE REST
WHITE HOUSE FARM
ITV, 9pm
DETECTIVE Sergeant Stan Jones, played by Mark Addy, is like a dog with a bone as the grisly case continues.
With inconclusive blood test results from the bodies and the fact that the hair stuck to the silencer has been lost, he’s struggling to gather evidence.
But then, while wandering around White House Farm, he has a Sherlockstyle epiphany. Now it’s just a question of trying to convince his bosses that they should take another look at the case. But will they listen to him?
Meanwhile, Jeremy Bamber, played by Freddie Fox, puts on an astonishing show of grief at the funerals, seeming to be overcome with emotion as he sobs at the graveside in front of family, friends and cameras.
But just as all looks lost for Stan solving the case, a vital witness comes forward.
This plot twist moves the drama on a bit, a reward for all viewers who have stuck with this slow-paced series so far.
FARAGE: THE MAN WHO MADE BREXIT
Channel 4, 9pm
IT MIGHT not particularly be a place you want to go, but nonetheless, this journey into the world of Nigel Farage is still fascinating.
He’s the man who brought us Brexit, and now just days before the UK leaves the European Union, Channel 4 finds out more about this divisive politician.
As cameras followed him for five months after the May 2019 elections, Farage tells the film director: “Politics is about sales. It’s about selling hope, sometimes about selling fear.”
It charts his doomed attempt to persuade Prime Minister Boris Johnson to join a Leavers’ Alliance with him as well as his relationship with US President Donald Trump.
It looks at how the wheels came off his campaign, with racism returning to haunt the party and plummeting poll ratings.
And in the run up to the December 2019 general election, it looks at whether Farage can ever convince the UK to buy what he is selling?
