Phillip makes return to show after revelation
PHILLIP Schofield returned to This Morning yesterday after announcing on Friday that he is gay. The presenter was still proudly wearing his wedding ring as he hosted the ITV programme with Holly Willoughby.
Oldham-born Phil has spoken lovingly about his family, including wife of 27 years, Stephanie
Lowe, and their daughters Ruby and Molly.
The 57-year-old emotionally told Holly last week that they had been very supportive in his decision to come out publicly.
He said: “I have made this decision which is essential for me and essential for my head, and that is principally the reason I have done this.
“Of course, I am really very aware that Steph and the girls are at home watching this. We’re all together, and they have been supporting us up until this moment.”
Phil said he is very aware that his comments may ‘cause pain and upset’ but added that they would ‘always be a family.’
He said: “It wasn’t easy but they were – are – so amazing and their love and support.
“I sat them down and told them, they jumped up and said this is fine, we will be ok, we will always be a family.”
During his chat last week he told Holly that there is no one else on the radar.
When Holly asked about the future, he said: “I am not thinking there, I am doing each day at a time.
“This has always been a slow process, this was the big day and this was the day I knew everything was pointing toward.”
He continued: “I could not have done it without you. Afterwards, I don’t know, but there is no one, I am not rushing out to anybody.” ● This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV.
