- By RICHARD FAY

UNITED goalkeeper coach Richard Hartis says the club are ‘really pleased’ with the progress of Dean Henderson.

The 22-year-old has shone while on loan at Sheffield United this season and is in line to represent England at the European Championships this summer.

No goalkeeper has kept more clean sheets than Henderson in the Premier League this season, with the United loanee having kept nine shutouts in 26 appearances.

Hartis has been to watch the youngster on numerous occasions, and says club officials are very impressed by the development of Henderson.

“I have been to see Dean a few times, along with the rest of the staff at the club, we keep regular tabs on him and we go to watch him regularly,” Hartis said. “I happened to see him play against Liverpool at Anfield. So I am really, really pleased with how Dean is progressing.

“It is a big jump to go from the Championship to the Premier League, but he has shown he can cope with that level of football at Sheffield United.

“He is an exciting prospect for us, moving forward as a club, so we are delighted to have him in our goalkeeping pool really.”

United took four keepers on their winter break to Marbella, however, thirdchoice Lee Grant missed the trip through injury. Hartis said: “He has just had a problem with his wrist so we left him at home to get some recovery work with that.

“He wants to play for Man United, that is why he is here, and he will be fine once he gets this little issue with his wrist sorted out.”
