attackers as well. Like I’ve said, the main thing is defending but the bonus of playing through the lines and playing good passes to start attacks is important too.”

Maguire revealed he enjoys kickstarting attacks from defence, using his dribbling ability to drive the team forward.

He added: “The best thing is just to be calm and composed and trust your ability. A lot of dribbles start with good defending, in terms of intercepting passes, but I can manipulate the ball quite well, especially for a big lad.

“It’s something that I’ve always had as part of my game. I do like to dribble the ball out and start attacks off. It sets the tempo for our team.

“[Rio] probably did it most out of anyone, and it was quite unusual at the time, but he really stood out when he did it.”

ODION Ighalo has thanked Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for the individual tutoring he has received during his time at United.

Nigerian forward Ighalo joined United on January transfer deadline day and has surprised many people with his immediate impact at the club.

Ighalo started his second game for United on Thursday night when he netted twice in their FA Cup fifth round victory over Derby.

The 30-year-old now has three goals in six appearances for his new club, and he has thanked Solskjaer for the role he has played in his time at Old Trafford.

“He’s been great,” Ighalo said. “He’s the one who worked hard to bring me here and I have to pay him back with my hard work.

“He has taught me a lot in training and in games.

“He’s told me what to do in the box, so I’m happy I’m learning from a great manager and a great striker. So I am very happy.”

United will be looking to maintain their rejuvenated form when they host City in the Premier League this weekend and Ighalo is relishing his first taste of the derby fixture.

He added: “It’s going to be a tough one, a derby game it is always tough. This is my first derby I am going to play, so we are working hard, and we have to correct our mistakes.

“Some of the mistakes we did today we can’t afford to do against City.

“So we are going to work hard from tomorrow in training and get ready for the game.”
