We mind the gap...

OLE Gunnar Solskjaer wants to close the gap between United and City – starting in today’s Manchester derby.

The Reds have been left in the shadow of their neighbours in recent years – with City claiming a haul of domestic silverware.

The Norwegian’s side are also 15 points behind City in this season’s Premier League campaign, but Solskjaer says shutting down that gap is the long-term goal.

“Of course every game against

CCity is massive,” he said.

“That stat is not nice to hear. It is one of our challenges to close this gap. Definitely win our individual battles and win more and more games against them.”

ITY star Raheem Sterling isn’t concerned by his barren streak in front of goal ahead of the Premier League meeting with United today.

The England international made a blistering start to the campaign, racking up 11 league goals between August and January.

However, since the start of the new year, his form has dipped and he has failed to score or register an assist in his past 11 appearances for the Blues.

City are second in the table ahead of the fourth Manchester derby of the season and history suggests Sterling’s poor goal scoring form won’t come to an end at Old Trafford.

The 24-year-old has never scored against City’s rivals in 16 attempts but the forward revealed he has no concerns ahead of the game.

“It happens,” he told BBC Sport of his form. “Before January I was at 20 goals, after I haven’t scored yet but I’m five goals away from beating my record from last season and confident I will be able to do it. At first I wasn’t taking in that I hadn’t scored against [United] and then the last two years I have known the record and have started to think about it too much.

“Now I am not thinking about it. I know I am going to get a moment.”
