PAUL Pogba is doing additional training sessions as he approaches his long-awaited comeback for United.

M.E.N. Sport understands the 26-year-old has been staying later at Carrington to work on his recovery from ankle surgery ahead of an expected return to full training this week.

Pogba was doing the individual sessions last week and United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer claimed the Frenchman was set to resume training with team-mates again ahead of the Sunday’s game at Tottenham Hotspur.

Pogba was in attendance at Old Trafford for United’s 2-0 derby win over City on Sunday and reacted to the victory by posting ‘Manchester is red’ on his Instagram account.

The France international has started six times this season and last lined up for United in the 1-1 Premier League draw with Arsenal on September 30.

Pogba played 71 minutes in the back-toback games with Watford and Newcastle United in late December but underwent ankle surgery in early January.

Solskjaer originally said Pogba would be sidelined for ‘three to four weeks’ yet the Frenchman has been out for over 10 weeks.

TAHITH Chong has signed a new two-year United contract.

Chong, 20, had entered the final four months of his previous deal but has committed to a new contract until 2022, with the option of an additional year.

Chong, who joined United from the Feyenoord academy in 2016, said: “When I joined Manchester United as a youngster, it was a dream come true. It is an honour every time I pull on the shirt and represent this club. I am working hard every day to improve and I know this is the perfect environment to develop my game.

“The opportunity to learn from the manager, his coaching staff and the world-class players here is fantastic.

“I am delighted to sign this new contract and really grateful for the chance to prove myself here for many years to come.”

United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer added: “Tahith works extremely hard every day and he is constantly improving. His performances this season, whether for the first team or Under-23s, are testament to his hard work, dedication and to his character.

“We are pleased with the progress he has made since he stepped up from the academy and are looking forward to continuing to develop his talent. Tahith has great potential; given his age, ability and work-ethic, we can see that he has a bright future at Manchester United.”
