HOW TO BEAT – AGEING Channel 4, 8pm

EIGHT volunteers who want to get fitter take part in an experiment to see if they can knock years off their biological age in just five weeks.

And this crowd has a lot of vices. Santi drinks Diet Coke instead of water, then spends all night gaming, only stopping for a takeaway. He may be just 31 but his biological age is 47.

Meanwhile 51-year-old Andrew doesn’t eat healthily and drinks too much, giving him a biological age of a shocking 82.

And 28-year-old Joe survives on a lot of “hangover meals”, giving him a biological age of 43.

Kate Quilton and Dr Javid Abdelmoneim explore the small changes that could make a big difference to our health.

When watching telly, stand up twice during every ad break. Park further away from your destination. Walk faster. Eat better...

But can all of this really turn back the clock on how our bodies are ageing?

The results are certainly surprising.

NOUGHTS + CROSSES BBC1, 9pm

LIFE at Mercy Point for Callum (Jack Rowan) is becoming relentlessly brutal.

He had to sleep on the floor because someone soaked his mattress in urine.

He is mocked, bullied, abused, but must not complain or he’ll make it worse.

Back at home, his mum Meggie (Helen Baxendale) is excited to attend Callum’s passing-in parade. But on route to Mercy Point, she sees a familiar face from the past that unnerves her.

Meanwhile, as much as Ryan tries to stop him, Jude (Josh Dylan), is getting involved deeper with Dorn (Shaun Dingwall) and his ambitions to make himself the new leader of the terrorist group the Liberation Militia.

Later, Callum and Sephy (Masali Baduza) try to snatch a moment together but are finding it difficult.

Callum has heard of the Onitemi – a dangerous place where Noughts and Crosses can supposedly be together.

It’s a risk, but what other choice do they have?
