Most wanted girl trafficker nabbed in 3-bed terrace

POLICE FINALLY CATCH UP WITH CROSS BORDER PIMP LIVING INCOGNITO IN RUSHOLME

A ROMANIAN detective has caught one of Europe’s most wanted criminals while embedded with police in Manchester.

Ildiko Enderle told Superintendent George Safta, a Romanian who was working with GMP, that she was relieved she would no longer have to run when police finally caught up with her in a terraced house in south Manchester.

Enderle, 43, was wanted for trafficking women and spent five years on the run. She was part of a trafficking gang that recruited young Czech and Romanian women - including a 15-year-old girl - and promised them a job, food and accommodation in Germany.

Instead they were trafficked to the Czech Republic where they were forced to work as prostitutes in a nightclub called Lady Bar 69.

Romanian national Enderle had four European arrest warrants to her name when police finally caught up with her here in Manchester.

She had been on the run for five years when she was found living at a property on Crofton Street, in Rusholme, last December.

She was caught just weeks after

Europol launched its ‘Crime has no gender’ campaign, in which the faces of fugitives are artistically masked on the agency’s website, with their identities and details of their crimes disclosed.

When Supt Safta, 40, confronted Enderle in her native tongue she tried to give a false name and date of birth. But when he presented her mugshot and details to her using the Europol site, she finally gave in and said: “I’m tired of running”.

After her capture Enderle was sent to Westminster Magistrates’ Court and deported back to Romania.

Police think she escaped detection by using fake identification.

“She told me she has been hiding for five years,” George said. “She said her daughter is also in the UK, is very happy here and they talk a lot. When we first entered the house she gave me the wrong name but her picture had popped up in our system and on TV because she was one of the most wanted.

“I said this to her. When she gave us the false date of birth and I checked with my colleagues back in Romania, I knew it was her. She said she was relieved the police found her because she didn’t look very good - very tired and thin. She was relieved we had finally got her and became more relaxed.

“She had a really good life here. She was trying to mingle and was even working. They had a big threebed terraced house.

Enderle has now been jailed for at least six years for her crimes - which started back in 2003.

Detective Insp Jamie Pearson said: “This is a fantastic result, which showcases the excellent partnership working of Programme Challenger and our embedded Romanian Police Officer.”
