CORRIE CUTS BACK ON

-

CORONATION Street has cut back the number of episodes due to the coronavirus outbreak.

ITV bosses have announced a temporary change to the transmission pattern of Coronation Street and its rural sister soap, Emmerdale, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

From Monday, March 30, instead of the usual six episodes, screened as a double bill, Corrie will be rationed to three episodes on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 7.30pm. And Emmerdale will be screened Monday to Friday at 7pm, losing its Thursday double helping.

Corrie, which celebrates its 60th anniversary this year, will continue to be filmed at Trafford Wharf, and Emmerdale in Leeds.

An ITV spokeswoman said: “The continued transmission of both soaps is a priority to all of us at ITV and to our audiences who enjoy the shows.

“While carefully adhering to the latest health advice from the Government and Public Health England, our production teams are continuing to film episodes in Manchester and Leeds.

“With this change of transmission pattern it will ensure we have great new soap episodes coming to air every weekday night until at least the early summer.”

They added: “With effect from Monday, March 30, Coronation Street and Emmerdale’s scheduling pattern will be changing due to the coronavirus pandemic.

“Emmerdale will air Monday to Friday at 7pm and Coronation Street Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 7.30pm.”
