TOP-NOTCH TAKEAWAY!

IN THE WAKE OF THE COVID-19 CRISIS, GREATER MANCHESTER RESTAURANTS ARE OFFERING NEW TAKEAWAY OPTIONS

- By EMILY HEWARD, DAISY JACKSON, THOMAS MOLLOY and SEAMUS MCDONNELL

NO man can live on bread alone.

Besides, there wasn’t any in the supermarket the last time we went.

What there is, though, is a surfeit of brilliant restaurants across Greater Manchester that badly need all of our support to pay their staff and suppliers and stay in business.

Earlier this week, the government advised that stricter social distancing measures were needed in the fight to slow the spread of coronavirus.

Boris Johnson urged people to stay away from pubs, bars, restaurants and theatres to prevent to further spread of Covid-19.

It’s led to many restaurants and bars closing their doors, and others with very few diners visiting them.

But this is Manchester, and not one to be stopped so easily - dozens of hospitality businesses in the city are now scrambling to offer delivery and collection services to their local areas.

We put a call out for anyone doing the same, and the responses came thick and fast.

Some have a brand new offering, others are increasingly reliant on their existing takeaway trade.

Whatever their circumstances, if you don’t want to lose them - use them. MANCHESTER

Crazy Pedro’s, Bridge Street and Short Street, Manchester city centre Pizza parlour and party palace Crazy Pedro’s is making its food and drink available for collection and delivery. Don’t expect a classic margherita here, from the team that brought you the chips, cheese and gravy pizza, and pizza nachos. You can pick up booze to take away too. They’re on Deliveroo or you can call 0161 359 3000 and collect. ● 55-57 Bridge Street, M3 3BQ or 1 Short Street, M4 1AA | crazypedros.co.uk Manchester Smokehouse and Cellar, Lloyd Street, Manchester city centre Barbecue restaurant Smokehouse and Cellar has launched its own takeaway service for the time being. Announcing the news on Facebook, chef and co-owner Mary-Ellen McTague and the team wrote: “A restaurant isn’t really a restaurant unless it’s full of people. The whole point of restaurants is to bring people together over a shared love of food, wine and good times. In these current, particularly bad times, we simply cannot risk continuing to share our space.” ● 406 Wilbraham Road, Chorlton, M21 0SD | thecreameries.co.uk | 0161 312 8328 Zouk Indian and Pakistani restaurant Zouk is on Deliveroo, where diners can find most of the usual menu, along with family bundles to feed a crowd for £20.
