Murder in mind

-

GRITTY, grisly and rife with troubled detectives, this crime drama is something you’d expect to see in the primetime evening slot.

So now we’re all housebound, a word to the wise to keep the kids out of the room for this daily daytime dose of gruesome misery.

Sharon Small and Hugo Speer head up the cast as DS Vivienne Cole and DI David Bradford, tackling crime in the capital.

Each has their own emotional baggage of course, although Bradford wins on trauma at the moment.

His wife Sarah is missing, presumed dead, and he is called to the body of every dead woman found, in order to see if it’s her.

Meanwhile, his teen step-daughter Carly drunkenly accuses him of killing Sarah.

Is she just lashing out with unfounded claims or does she have a point?

Certainly there are questions over Bradford’s secret second mobile phone, and a lie about his whereabouts the evening Sarah vanished.

In other troubling news, human remains have been found under decking in the backyard of a Camden house.

Buried for a year, clothing and a distinctive belt buckle indicate the corpse is a student who lived there, Freddie.

Yet he was never reported missing, either by his ex-girlfriend or his sister Karen, played by Downton’s Sophie McShera.

The victim’s four housemates have all moved on, but when they hear the news they meet up to discuss what might have happened...

The plot thickens and the murder squad is called to investigate.
