LEROY Sane has revealed that he is following the schedule given to him by City as he looks to maintain his fitness levels during lockdown.

Sane hasn’t been able to play since August when he hobbled off just 10 minutes into the season curtainraiser against Liverpool in the Community Shield.

City may have won the trophy on penalties but they ended up losing Sane for a number of months as it transpired he had suffered serious knee ligament damage.

Thankfully, the German was spared a full tear which would have completely ended his season before it had even begun – but it was still a significant injury that required surgery and a lengthy spell of rehabilitation.

The 24-year-old is yet to feature this season, and City have missed his explosiveness down the left, but he has now almost fully recovered.

Sane was on the verge of a return to the first team after he made his long-awaited comeback for the Under-23s against Arsenal, yet the suspension of football in England due to the coronavirus pandemic has meant he will have to wait even longer before he can be back on the pitch.

given fitness programmes to follow at home, something Sane has been sticking to as he hopes to finally make his return to action when the season resumes.

“I’m working in the gym downstairs in my apartment,” Sane told City’s official site. “We have a plan scheduled from Manchester City, I try to follow this as well as I can – running, being on the bike, some upper body fitness, and also work for the legs.”

City’s players have been unable to see each other in person for a number of weeks now but Sane has also shared how the team are sticking together in these troubled times.

“We’re texting each other, calling each other on FaceTime, just generally talking about how we are and what we’re doing – and hope that everything will get better soon, and everybody is safe.”
