ANTI-LOCKDOWN protesters have been labelled an insult to NHS staff.

A series of demonstrations are planned in Greater Manchester and have been advertised along with others being held across the country.

The poster for the Manchester event reads: “UK Mass Gathering Manchester.

“Join the UK freedom movement and be a part of the largest mass gathering since the lockdown.

“We say no to the coronavirus bill, no to mandatory vaccines, no to the new normal and no to the unlawful lockdown.

“Bring a picnic, some music and let’s have some fun and say yes to life.”

But Manchester town hall’s city centre chief Coun Pat Karney described the protests as ‘irresponsible’ and said they were an insult to

NHS staff working to prevent people from dying.

He said: “Those people who are saying it is a government conspiracy and 5G technology conspiracy should listen to the people that have lost their loved ones.

“The death rate in Manchester is still high, we can’t come out of lockdown. The council will work with police on how to cancel these events.”

One such event has been organised to take place in south Manchester

and another in Trafford.

Coun Karney advised those critical of the lockdown to write to MPs instead of organising a mass protest.

The protests appear to have been organised by an anti-vaxxing group called the UK Freedom Movement.

Group members have said they believe the coronavirus lockdown is illegal.

Mass gatherings are still banned under the lockdown rules, however people are now allowed to meet one other person from another household in a park. Greater Manchester Police have been contacted by the M.E.N.
